Logistics

Located in the northwestern corner of South Carolina, Upstate SC is strategically positioned between two of the largest cities in the Southeastern United States: Charlotte and Atlanta, connected by Interstate 85 which runs through the heart of Cherokee County.

Cherokee County is located along the border of North Carolina, nearly halfway between Charlotte and Spartanburg. For logistics, Cherokee’s location means ease of access to Charlotte Douglas International Airport for direct access to major markets, as well as convenient proximity to the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport for a user-friendly, easy to navigate facility. Cherokee’s proximity to both cities allows businesses in Cherokee to widen their labor pool reach, with the ability to recruit employees from all directions.

Additionally, Cherokee has 23 miles of Interstate 85, with sites in close proximity to the major artery that may become large developed sites with rail potential. Cherokee County is located a short distance from Interstate 26, which connects eastward to the Port of Charleston and westward into Asheville, NC, and beyond.

In 2015, Fortune 500-company Dollar Tree, Inc. chose Cherokee County’s Upstate Corporate Park to establish a new $130 million, 1.5-million-square-foot facility to support a coast-to-coast logistics network that supplies more than 13,600 stories. Additional existing distribution and warehousing industries that call Cherokee home include Robert Allen Group, Ryder Cold Storage and distribution and Newark Electronics, a United-Kingdom headquartered electronic parts producer.
